Doing Fine

How did you leave so easily?

Like I didn’t let you back in so many times.

Expecting consistency or a promise

Every time was never the end

And when it was, you just

Left.

Okay.

Stable.

While I cried every night, struggling to sweep up

My shattered remains that your boots crushed on the way out.

There was no point in glue,

No point in taping.

Tossed them out like you did with me.

Bought a new heart and started over.

It’s still adjusting to the hole you left.

I’m still adjusting to the hole you left.

We’re doing just fine though.

Thanks for asking.
