I can never sleep before a New or Full Moon. All that energy strikes at once and whether I’m attempting a good nights sleep or getting the eat-sleepies after snacking on the couch, I’ll still wake up. Right at the witching hour. Just to get these thoughts out.
This Full Moon in Aries is not a total revamp of who we are, but more like clarity on what to do with who we’ve become. This entire year has been giving us callbacks to the episodes of last season. Familiar faces coming back into the narrative, but we’re not the same people as we used to be. Reoccurring thoughts about goals and aspirations are making the rounds again, asking to be heard. Hard feelings that might’ve gone ignored are here in big, bold letters and it’s time to address them so we can get to where we need to go.
Aries is ruled by the planet Mars. The planet of action, passion, courage. Aries, being at the start of the Zodiac, is a powerful force for manifesting new beginnings. While it’s always good to take the time to plan something out, it can be easy to get lost in that phase. We need a healthy balance of both planning each step and just winging it. Sometimes you’re not supposed to wait for what you desire from the Universe. Sometimes you do have to demand it. Show up unapologetically and show everyone that it is your time. Aries is the fire-starter, and what looks like total chaos on the outside is actually clearing the way to make room for what is needed. You can’t always ask for permission to make your dreams happen. You just have to make it happen.
With the Moon in Aries, there is actually a synchronicity between the ruling planet and the Moon. A balance between head and heart and how to connect the two. The Moon, controlling our emotions, is often seen as opposing force to Mars. However, every action causes a reaction and the Aries energy is encouraging us to embrace both. It can be terrifying to start new things (or finish the things that you already started) and that feeling of fear can leave us paralyzed in the process. It becomes a cycle where our reactions start to fuel our actions. You didn’t finish that project sitting in the corner because it felt so good to start something and the idea of it ending creates a tinge of sadness. So you only create when it feels exciting and once the magic starts to lull, you move on to chase something new. But endings are a part of life. Finishing something that you started shouldn’t scare you from moving forward.
This Harvest Moon is asking us to no longer fear the future. Do not fear the failure. Do not fear the success.
Fear a lack of courage that leaves us stuck in the past, but we can use that to make sure we don’t fall into negative habits.
Use that passionate Mars energy to create a system that actually serves us and allow that emotional Moon energy to deepen our love for it so we don’t just have the excitement of the beginning, but also the appreciation of getting to the end. It is time for us to accept our wildest dreams and not only lay the groundwork to get there, but start walking on the unfinished path. That’s the beauty of life. We don’t need to know the outcome, we don’t need to know every step. We just have to keep moving and enjoy the views.
I recently saw a post from someone working in the medical field and they said while working in a hospital, people often asked them about a ‘busy season’ (i.e. is Christmas a busier time or Fourth of July?) Their response? No, because your heart can stop at any second. There isn’t a time of year that is worse than the other because it can all end at a moment’s notice. So why are you living in fear of what you could be?
Why are you spending this one life being too afraid to apply for the program, take the job, finish the project? What is the point of spending each day waiting for some giant green flag that the time is right to go after what you want?
Don’t wait. You deserve the best version of yourself. Light the match, burn it down, and see what treasures come from the ashes.
Spend this Aries Full Moon prioritizing you and the direction that you want to go. Take the leap and jump into a new reality.
